When Dr. Piper Hollis pulls a body from Ronan Kincaid’s charter nets on a gray morning off Widow’s Point, she assumes the dead man is a fisherman who wandered too far into the shipping lane. Ronan knows better on sight — the tattoo on the corpse’s forearm is a mark he last saw in Yemen, on the throat of a man his uncle Duncan MacRae had asked him about six months before Duncan was murdered.
The sheriff called Duncan’s death a boating accident. It wasn’t. And whoever the dead man in the water was working for knows Piper saw his face when they hauled him aboard.
Ronan came home to bury his uncle and help his aunt Nora hold the family estate together. He didn’t plan on falling for a woman who won’t stop asking questions — or on finding the first thread of the conspiracy that killed the only father he ever really knew.
